Overview

A Lead Doorman is in charge of the Bell staff, Doorperson and all activities regarding bell services. This includes, but is not limed to, carrying and storing luggage, delivering messages, running errands and providing general facility and area information to guests. The position is responsible for the supervising the Porte Cochere, Bell Stand and the Front Door Operations while assisting other department manager(s) with short term planning and day-to-day operations. The Lead Doorperson trains all of the bell hops on staff. Maintains all standards and is responisible for the departement to adhere to all policies and procedures. He/she works with Owners/Guests to solve all transportation issues.

  1. Know your job.Complete job skills training and possess a clear knowledge of the job, know property standards, listen attentively in Pre-shift and ask for clarification of assignments and expectations. Apply experience and training to accomplish tasks.
  2. Be on time.Follow attendance guidelines and reports to work on time, and in uniform and follow clock in and out procedures.
  3. Be on stage.Associates are friendly, approachable, and always willing to assist.  Associates must follow property personal appearance standards, is well groomed, in uniform and practices good personal hygiene
  4. Conduct yourself professionally and collaboratively with Guests and fellow Associates an in accord with the company’s service culture, “The Keys to Making it Right.”
  5. Work smart.Understand the needs of the shift, use resources properly, complete all assignment methodically and promptly without losing attention to details.
  6. Use your tools. Use the approved tools and checklists to complete assigned tasks.
  7. Measure Up.Associate produces work that meets the standards of the department in terms of volume and quality.  Associate meets goals and measures as defined by Department Leadership.
  8. Respect the space.Keep your work area clean and organized. Report any deficiencies promptly to your Supervisor.
  9. Be safe.Report unsafe work conditions or practices and safety or security violations in accordance with company policy.  
  10. Support the Team:Cooperate with other associates and supervisors striving to create a positive work environment. Support team efforts through carrying out responsibilities in a constructive and professional manner.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
  • The Lead doorperson is responisble for training of all bellperson on staff.
  • Responsible for supervision of the Porte Cochere, bell stand and front door operations while assisting department managers with day to day operations.
  • Open vehicle, as well as hotel doors while greeting all arriving & departing guests.
  • Coordinate with Valet, Bellperson, & Front Desk staffs to ensure impeccable arrival/departure experiences.
  • Hail taxis as needed.
  • Valet  or move guest vehicle if needed.
  • Respond to guest questions & answer information on local attractions, events & daily activities in the hotel.
  • Ensure all areas affecting the guest’s sense of arrival present an organized & clean appearance at all times.
  • Directs traffic in a manner which keeps the front driveway clear of vehicles.
  • Knowledgeable about the property & surrounding area enough so to provide guests with directions when requested.
  • Remains stationed at the outside front door at all times when not assisting guests or performing other job duties.
  • Be aware of V.I.P. & repeat guests & greet them by name.
  • Maintains the front hotel area clean, orderly & hazard free.
  • Successfully completes all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ExperienceMinimum of 6 months doorperson experience at a major hotel preferred.
EducationHigh School Diploma or equivilent preferred.
SkillComfortable in frequent guest face to face interactions.
SkillAbility to remember names and faces of frequent guests.
SkillAbility to safely operate a manual or automatic vehicle for guests while exceeding guest expectations
